Memorial Day is so much more than the end of school, a three day weekend, and kick off to summer.

While we are splashing around, having fun and grilling up some eats, let’s take a moment to appreciate the men and women who sacrificed for us here and abroad.

They would want us to have fun. I know the man below would. I called him Paw Paw, but others called him Pops or Pete.

I miss him so much as well as my grandmother. He never talked about the war, but she would. I learned what it was like being a young wife, alone with a baby while on rations through her eyes.

My mom and I would ask her to write all of her stories down, but she never would. So, they live on through us telling them to our kids and grandkids just as she did.

He finally talked one day to my husband and son. They now have his story to tell.

Never forget the sacrifice and most importantly never forget the most important sacrifice ever in the history of the world - when Jesus died to set us free from our sins.

May Freedom Ring!
