Deer season is here and like every year I want to help you get the best product back.

If field dressing your deer please do it on a clean surface or hanging up in a tree. Keep the meat away from dirt, grass and leaves. A cheap tarp under the deer cost you less then I will for receiving a dirty carcass.

Chilled cooler deer correct way and wrong way.
Correct way add a layer of ice to bottom of ice chest. step 2 put deer quarters and loose meat in UNSCENTED trash bags preferably double bagged. Step 3 add layer of ice above bagged deer. Step 4 drain water as much as possible before bringing it in keeping your deer meat from getting water logged.

Incorrect way put deer in cooler and toss ice on top allowing meat to float in ice water. This way water logs your deer meat and takes all the flavor away and making a pale color appearance to your meat.

Photo shows on left a water logged deer compared to one that was hung to dry, but by bagging it and draining water off you can achieve the same result.

Pigs cost $1.25 per pound rail weight
(After hide and everything removed)

Average cost for pig before processing fees
$250-300 hanging weight 200-240

Processing fees start at $300 and go up depending on amount of smoked hams and bacons and sausage you get done.

Overall cost ranges $500-$950 out the door typically.
