Celebrating Our First Farm Enhancement Grant Winners!

We were thrilled to present the very first Farming Bovina Farm Enhancement Grants at this year’s Bovina Farm Day—and over the next few days, we’re introducing you to each of our three inaugural recipients.

First up: Duane and Karen LaFever of Maplewood Farm & Orchard.

Maplewood has been part of Bovina Farm Day every single year, so it was especially meaningful to present Karen with a check for $525 to help purchase five new picnic tables for the farm.

Each fall, the LaFever family welcomes visitors to their 106-acre Bovina farm for apple and pumpkin picking, wagon rides, farm animals, kids’ activities, seasonal food and their signature maple products. The new tables will give guests even more space to sit, relax and enjoy their time on the farm.

This is exactly why we created the Farm Enhancement Grant: to put funds raised through Bovina Farm Day directly back into projects that help our local farms grow and thrive.

Congratulations, Karen and Duane! We’re so happy to invest in a farm that has supported Bovina Farm Day—and our community—for so many years.
