🌻Meet Your Market Host! 🌻

Hi everyone! My name is Carly, and I'm excited to introduce myself as the host of the Main Street DeFuniak Springs Farmers Market!

A little about me! I'm currently finishing up my degree in business, and I have a passion for small businesses, community involvement, and bringing people together. I also currently serve as the Board Secretary for Main Street DeFuniak Springs, where I get to be involved in supporting our downtown community and local businesses.

One thing that makes this role especially meaningful to me is that I'm a market vendor myself! I understand firsthand the time, hard work, and dedication that go into running a small business and setting up at a market each week. Being on both sides gives me a unique perspective, and I want our vendors to know they have someone who understands their experiences and is genuinely invested in helping them succeed.

My goal is to make our Farmers Market more than just a place to shop. I want it to be a place where families spend their Saturday mornings, neighbors catch up, and small businesses have the opportunity to grow.

I'm always looking for new ideas, fun events, and ways to make our market better for both our vendors and our community!

Whether you're a longtime market regular, a fellow vendor, or someone who hasn't visited us yet, I'd love to meet you! If you see me out at the market, please come say hi! 💚

🌱 ATTENTION LOCAL FARMERS & AGRICULTURAL PRODUCERS! 🌱

As our community continues recovering from the recent hurricane, we want to make sure our local farmers and agricultural producers are aware of resources that may be available to assist with recovery efforts.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) offers an Agriculture and Aquaculture Producers Natural Disaster Recovery Loan Program designed to help eligible producers recover from qualifying natural disasters.

🚜 What assistance may be available?

* Loans of up to $500,000 for qualifying producers
* Assistance with eligible repairs to agricultural buildings, fencing, equipment, and other farm infrastructure
* Potential assistance with debris removal and other qualifying recovery expenses
* Repayment terms designed to support recovery

Please note: This is a loan program, not a grant. Eligibility depends on the specific disaster declaration, program requirements, and application availability. Producers should confirm that assistance is available for the recent hurricane before applying.

Our farmers and agricultural producers are an important part of the DFS Farmers Market and our local economy. We encourage anyone who may qualify to explore this resource and share it with others who could benefit.

💚 Supporting our local farmers means supporting the heart of our community.

🌧️ OFFICIAL FARMERS MARKET CANCELLATION 🌧️

After closely monitoring the latest weather forecasts and discussing the situation with our market committee, we have made the decision to cancel the DeFuniak Springs Farmers Market this Saturday, October 10.

With Walton County included in the Governor's declared State of Emergency and in consideration of state and county recommendations regarding the approaching storm, we feel this is the safest decision for our vendors, visitors, and community.

Everyone's safety will always be our top priority.

We appreciate everyone's patience, feedback, and understanding as we worked through this decision.

Please stay safe this weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday! 💚
