Peak summer is here at the stand 🍉 ☀️

Our new field Sugar Queen cantaloupes are here, and they are FANTASTIC. We also have Red Diamond watermelons available again, along with plenty of fresh produce coming straight from our farm in Ponder.

From our farm:

Our sourdough bakery will be fully stocked Friday–Sunday, but we do expect to sell out each day. Come early instead of waiting until the afternoon!

We want to apologize to everyone who stopped by the stand this week looking for a watermelon and left without one — and to anyone who has gotten a bad one from us over the past few weeks.

This year has been tough on farmers across the board. From one farmer to another, we’re all hearing the same thing: this has been one of the hardest growing seasons in decades. Too much rain has hurt strawberries and watermelons. Peaches got hit with a late freeze. Our Sugar Queen patch caught disease late, which pushed us behind on having them ready earlier.

But through all of it, our mission stays the same: if we don’t grow it, then find the best local produce we can and bring it to our customers.

That’s why 156 Produce made the grueling drive for us this weekend and brought back 16,000 lbs of watermelons just in time for Father’s Day weekend. Big thanks to 156 Produce.

And it was worth it. These watermelons are outstanding. I’ve cut into 5 so far, and every single one has been sweet, crisp, and exactly what we’ve been looking for all season.

We have a lot of loyal customers who understand how tough this season has been, but we’ve also had quite a few first-time customers this year. So if your first experience with us was a bad watermelon, please don’t let that be your final impression — we’ll make it right.

Our homegrown tomatoes are finally ready and will be available every day at the stand through the end of September, along with green tomatoes.
