Most folks think a milk truck driver just “picks up milk.” but it’s a whole lot more than that.
This is Mike — our milk hauler — and he takes his job seriously. It’s early mornings, late nights, snowstorms, mud season — and still showing up.
EVERY single tank- EVERY single farm- EVERY single pickup.
He measures the milk.
He checks the temperature.
He agitates the tank.
He pulls a sterile sample — every time.
Mike is the link between farm to fridge for all of the milk that we do not bottle here on the farm . He humored us by letting us grab this picture of him holding the sample after he took it — but that little bottle represents something big: ACCOUNTABILITY
Those samples are tested for:
• Antibiotics
• Bacteria levels
• Somatic cell count
• Butterfat and protein levels
• Overall milk quality
They go to the lab for verification before that milk ever moves further down the line.
And when we bottle milk here at Crystal Valley Farm, samples are taken then, too.
Food safety doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens because people like Mike do their job carefully, consistently, and correctly — every single load.
We’re grateful for the folks who take that responsibility seriously. 🥛🚛
