A lil HFM History:
Did ya know that your Heath Farmers Market is the brain-child of outgoing Heath City Councilman, and incoming Rockwall County Judge-Elect, Frank New? It’s true.
We joke that Frank is The Father of HFM, but so truly — without his vision, tenacity, dedication, and devotion — there wouldn’t be a Heath Farmers Market. What started in 2019 as a sweet and simple market with live music for Heathens to gather and share community and enjoy our park spaces has turned into something so much bigger, so much more beautiful, with such far reaching fingers. HFM has brought people together in our community that may have otherwise never met, it has held-up and supported small businesses, helped launch a load of new small businesses/vendors, illuminated so many gifts and talents and goods and services right here in our hometown, brought the first-ever fireworks in Heath, the first ever Concert Series to Heath, putting Heath on the map as both premiere market destination, and as music venue where big bands want to play — and more.
Frank New has loved and served this community with his whole heart in so many unseen, unknown ways as both Heath City Councilman and HFM liaison: hours and days and weeks and months and years, ever working for our community. As his Market Partner, I have born witness to the blood, sweat, and tears — the thought, consideration, muscle, and time that go into such — and it has been a privilege and an honor to serve alongside him across four years and three seasons, for nothing but the Love of Heath. Frank will leave our council in January, taking his earned seat as Rockwall County Judge, where he will apply the same heart, devotion, and tenacity he has shown for Heath for the whole of Rockwall County — and while he will no longer serve as HFM Liason, he will continue as volunteer forevermore, seeing it through - like Frank New do. In this season of gratitude, it would be remiss to not thank him so roundly for his vision that has indeed, so profoundly helped shape so much here in our Hometown Heath.
Thank you, Frank New, for being so inspired, and for the perpetual pouring into this community at large, in all great and small ways. The seen, and all the unseen. The Heath Farmers Market is forever grateful for you, Father and Founder of HFM.
