Today’s gratitudes…
1. I am grateful to have another day of life! After nearly dying in 2008 from a blood infection with a 3% survival rate, I am grateful for every day, even the days with challenges.
2. I am grateful for my beautiful farm where I eat my organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, chicken & guinea eggs, chicken, and lamb.
We are planting the fall crop this weekend that includes root veggies, leafy greens, and squash.
The photo is the sun rising over my orchard.
3. I am grateful for my ride or die friend, Val Harrison Hart, who has been one of my biggest blessings for over 35 years now!
My mom and I used to join Val’s family for holidays when we were in AZ; we have experienced growing up through the years; and our fabulous and hilarious memories are abundant.
I am most grateful for the things Val did when I had Lyme disease and was dying from the blood infection.
There wasn’t an infectious disease doctor in AZ who would see me so I was dying at home and my daughter was only 7 years old. My heart would act up or the pain would become unbearable although I never took pain meds because the pain indicated if the antibiotics were working.
When I needed to go to the ER or just needed someone to take care of me, Val was there. Maybe that is why she became a surgical tech. She was really good at taking care of me even when it was sitting in silence and holding me through the pain and fear.
I will forever be grateful for my ride or die friend, Val. Thank you for loving Elizabeth, my mom, and me and for allowing us to love you back. I love you, Greg, and your family dearly!
