Little Girl, Big Knife Culinary creations of a little girl with a big ideas. Since then Little Girl, Big Knife has grown and morphed into a small business.

Little Girl, Big Knife was started in the fall of 2007, while awaiting to learn whether or not I passed the Louisiana state bar exam. During these few months, I actually had time to devote to my cooking and realized cooking and food is my passion and the blog was born. We combined our passion for healthy food, creativity, and well Bacon and created Baco-Nola. Baco-Nola is made with bacon, pecans,

almonds, walnuts, agave nectar, honey, and dash of kosher salt. Baco-Nola is paleo-friendly and is a healthy alternative to your mainstream granola.

A request for bao buns was made months ago, but that requires me getting to Hong Kong Market. Somehow all the pieces finally fell together - I finally got to the market, picked up fresh radish and carrots from the farmers market which I lightly pickled. Filled the steamed buns with with coconut infused pulled pork. Utilized the pressure cooker for both the pork and collard greens. Collards were cooked with coconut milk, fresh ginger and cashew butter.

Happy New Year! Kicking our year off following the Southern tradition of black eyed peas and cabbage for dinner tonight for good luck and prosperity. 2017 is going to bring some welcome changes and challenges! With the life being chaotic these past couple of months, my creativity in the kitchen has been stunted. It was nice to have a few days to plan the boy's birthday dinner, get into my head, and come up with a couple of dishes. We started the meal with this Roasted Sunchoke and Cauliflower soup with sous vide scallops and crispy prosciutto. The locally grown sunchokes and cauliflower puréed into a luscious soup that tasted incredibly rich, without having to add any cream or butter. We both agreed this one is a keeper. --------- Recipe: Pre-heat oven to 400. Toss an equal amount of cauliflower and sunchokes, and 4 small Yukon gold potatoes in a roasting pan with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast until veggies are soft and golden. About 20-25 minutes and be sure to stir a few times while cooking. Sauté in your favorite soup pot chopped shallot, garlic, and olive oil over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add roasted veggies and enough chicken broth to just cover them. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Then purée in blender until smooth. Check for salt and pepper, can be served immediately or chilled and served later.
