Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Cumberland, Fentress, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Van Buren, Warren and White Counties from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Scattered rain and snow showers will be with us off and on throughout the day today. No impacts are expected from this activity with temperatures climbing well into the 30s to near 40 this afternoon.

Areas along the Plateau will likely fall to or below freezing shortly after it becomes dark out this evening. All precipitation falling should be in the form of snow at that point, and with below freezing temperatures, whatever falls should accumulate. Those in the highest elevations will fall below freezing the soonest and have the best chance of receiving as much as two inches of snowfall accumulation overnight. Those on the Plateau but a bit farther down in elevation may pick up as much as an inch. Of course, locally higher (or lower) amounts can never be ruled out, especially with winter weather systems such as these.

It's worth noting this advisory includes our Plateau counties. Those in the advisory but *not* on the Plateau in lower elevation may take longer to fall below freezing. The same is true for counties not in the advisory at all. We cannot rule out a coating or dusting of snow in some areas overnight, especially on grassy or elevated surfaces, but little to no impact to travel is expected. Some locations may fail to fall to the freezing mark entirely.

Any impacts to travel (mainly along the Plateau) should be short-live and confined primarily to this evening through late Saturday morning. Highs tomorrow are forecast to reach the lower 40s, which should allow for road conditions to improve significantly in most areas.

That's all I have for now. Stay safe tonight and God bless.
