📜 Historical Timeline

1943 – First all-concrete rice dryer in Texas is built
1945 – Second concrete dryer added
1966 – Iconic 177-ft tower built — tallest in U.S. at the time
1944–1987 – Operates at full capacity (1,800 barrels/hour, 100,000 barrels stored)
Late 1980s–2021 – Stands silent but remains Katy’s most recognizable landmark
Feb 2021 – Purchased by our team for restoration
2022 – Renovation begins: beer garden, museum, event space
June 2024 – Katy Beer Garden opens
2025 – Phase II: micro-vendors, train rides, green space, farmer’s market
