The Slovak Gourmet

The Slovak Gourmet The Slovak Gourmet began as a nine year old girl watching her beloved grandmother make authentic Slo She continues to assist me with my company.

The Slovak Gourmet started a long time ago in a small kitchen in Barberton, Ohio. As a nine year old girl watching my beloved grandmother, Elizabeth, make all her Slovak specialty foods and pastries. My favorite was her world class nut rolls, thus, the Slovak Gourmet began. She taught me the love & technique to carry on the Slovak tradition. My grandmother taught me to make nut rolls, tortes, cook

ies, pineapple shortbreads, canning peppers, making pepper relish and Melinsa (a homemade noodle). My mother being a gifted cook and entertainer, passed on her unique gifts to me as well. My mother and I began canning pepper relish together in the early nineties. Then, my mother and I began creating the pepper relish together, plus we canned pickled peppers. While at college during the nineties, after finishing classes, I would pick peppers take them to a family friends home. Then we would proceed to can peppers into the early morning hours. Thus, in 2008, I was the first to do local Farmer markets, my first being in Barberton, Ohio. I've been in "Celebrate Local" at Easton in Columbus, Ohio since Oct. 1, 2011. The three items sold there were the nut rolls, the Slovak canned peppers, and the shortbreads. The consumers have consistently bought items there expanding my gourmet food line. The Slovak Gourmet's logo is of my father saluting as a young boy during WWII, thus, becoming the symbol of the Slovak Gourmet on Oct. 1, 2014. Please enjoy,
