Eve's Orchard

Eve's Orchard Hobby farm selling registered sheep, wool, apples by appointment. We truly are a single family farm. We operate organically, but are not certified organic.

Eve's Orchard is a hobby farm/orchard run by Kristin & Matt, along with the help of our animals. The cost of becoming certified is prohibitive for small farms. Our philosphy:
We believe in being good stewards of the planet and the animals that live here. We grow organic apples and heirloom vegetables. We raise registered Old English Babydoll Southdown sheep, registered Shetland sheep, and the usu

al barn cats. Our animals help complete the organic cycle of life. The animals can range in our orchard, which means they are fertilizing the trees with their droppings. They consume the dropped apples that contain apples "pests." This means the life cycle of the apple bug is stopped and it cannot overwinter in the soil and emerge the following spring. They keep the orchard clean by keeping the grass mowed down, which also helps reduce the fungal spores of apple scab. The chickens can eat the infamous tent caterpillars that infest fruit trees (as well as other insects). The manure from the animals is added to the compost pile and added to gardens. We will be provided with fruits, veggies, wool, and lots of love from our animals. Diseased trees become firewood. My personal goal on this farm is to have no waste. Everything has a purpose and everything works together. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" Eccl. 3:1. Our products:
Apples--no spraying, they are not perfect and blemish free like the chemical-laden balls of wax in the supermarket. Apples are #2 on the EWG's list of most toxic fruits, so if you want natural, you have to learn to accept the flaws. Apple Cider--not pasteurized, raw cider made on an apple press. Honey--no longer available. Free-Range Eggs--no longer available
Heirloom Veggies--seasonal
Registered Sheep--ask for availability, we maintain a small flock and breed only a small amount, which enables us to take good care of the animals and keep them friendly. Wool-carded wool batts for quilting or spinning

Projects:
Tomato breeding and seed saving. I maintain a large and growing collection of open pollinated seeds and I breed tomatoes each year. Hopefully in future years I will have a nice collection of stabilized strains that I can sell for seeds.
