Another Oyster Pop-Up at the Food Hub!

After our last round, we heard “best oysters I’ve ever had” to “when will there be more!?” So here we are!

Fresh oysters from Alava Ocean Co. arrive Thursday, June 18th at 4pm.

They’ll be available for pre-order, and we’ll also have some in the case for retail, first come first serve. If you’ve pre-ordered, you can pick them up anytime after they arrive during store hours.

If we don’t sell out before Saturday, we’ll also be featuring them on the brunch menu 6/20 and 6/21

These tend to go fast, so get your orders in early if you don’t want to miss out.

Call or text 503-308-1121 or email [email protected] to reserve yours.

$18 per dozen

Drinks are now available anytime the Food Hub is open!

Whether you’re stopping in for groceries, jointing us for brunch, meeting a friend, or just curious what local food looks like, you’re welcome to pull up a chair and stay awhile.

Our drink menu includes local beer, wine, and cider, along with coffee, tea, jun, honey sodas, drinking vinegars, and more.

And because the Food Hub is celebrating its 3rd birthday this week, everyone who visits June 11-15 will receive a free non-alcoholic drink on us.

Thanks for helping us grow from a tiny “closet of a grocery store” into a Food Hub representing more than 100 regional producers.

We hope you’ll stop by and celebrate with us!

Three years ago this week, we opened the Clatskanie Food Hub to our community for the first time.

Back then, we were operating out of what we used to jokingly call a “closet of a grocery store” tucked into the back of the building. It was small, but it gave us a place to start.

Today, the Food Hub occupies the entire building, offers expanded hours, represents more than 100 regional producers, and has grown into a community gathering space, an educational center, and now a commercial kitchen creating even more opportunities for local food.

To celebrate our third birthday, we’re releasing our 2025 Annual Report, a look back at a year of growth, challenges, and community impact. You can read the full report here: https://canva.link/11qbrynskf7s6zc

A few highlights from 2025:

• $278,513 in Food Hub sales
• $143,643 in Farmers Market sales
• More than 100 regional producers represented
• Retail space doubled in size on July 4th
• Major progress on our kitchen project

If you've been part of this in any way, this report is yours too.

None of this happens without our farmers, ranchers, fishers, makers, volunteers, customers, donors, community partners, and supporters. Every purchase, donation, market visit, class registration, and encouraging conversation has helped make this possible.

Consistently supporting local farms and food makers builds strong, resilient communities. Together, we get a little closer everyday. Thanks for doing your part.

And because birthdays should be celebrated, everyone who visits the Food Hub June 11-15 will receive a free non alcoholic drink from our new drink menu!

It’s been an honor to build this with you all. Here’s to year four!

Bamboo shoot season is here, and the window is short!

They’re available at the Clatskanie Food Hub for a very limited time.

These shoots were harvested by John Lillich from a managed bamboo stand here in Clatskanie. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth, with some species capable of growing nearly three feet in a single day. That rapid growth is part of what makes bamboo useful, but it’s also why bamboo is considered invasive in many areas and should be planted with great care.

For that reason, we are not recommending the planting of bamboo. This particular stand is actively managed and harvested for both shoots and timber.

If you’ve never cooked fresh bamboo shoots before, peel away the tough outer layers and boil the tender inner shoot for about 20 to 30 minutes. John prefers to cook them in rice water, a traditional method used to mellow their flavor. After that, they’re ready for stir-fries, soups, curries, or a simple sauté with butter and garlic.

Fresh bamboo shoots are available at the Food Hub for a very limited time. Like many seasonal foods, they’re only around for a brief window each spring.
