You’ve heard the story of Adam and Eve…but NOT this one! And it still matches perfectly with Scripture!
Have you ever stopped to wonder how much of our mental images of Adam and Eve actually come straight from Scripture and how much from the traditional story told for centuries? That question fascinated me when we wrote A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, our first Biblical fiction.
For instance, Scripture tells us God created man. Couldn’t that mean “man” as a species unlike the animals, birds, and fish? It never says God created Adam as a full-grown man. What if Father created Adam as a baby and raised him? Think about it! God brought the animals to Adam to see what he would call them. Can you imagine how long it might have taken? Years!
A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS follows three parallel stories: Adam and Eve in Adam’s Valley; Cain and his sister Sheriah (fictional, but Eve IS the mother of all the living, and when he got to Nod, he had a wife.) traveling east toward Nod; and Abel in Paradise, where he learns from angels—including an ancient cherub named Namrel.
We searched the Scriptures, looking closely at what the Word actually says rather than relying on man’s traditions handed down through generations. (Scripture says the traditions of men make void the Word of God! Mark 7:13) Because I NEVER want readers taking my word for it, there’s a ‘Search the Scriptures’ section at the end showing where I found the Biblical foundations for the story. I hope readers will look up those verses for themselves! I LOVE causing others to dig into the Bible!
So today, I’m reading the first couple of pages for you.
I wonder if you’ve ever discovered something in Scripture that made you realize, “Hey, That isn’t the way I’ve always heard it told!”?
I’d love to hear about it if you have!
Hugs and BLESSINGS!
