I love identifying bird species. If you are like me, I recommend the Merlin Bird ID app. Walking the orchard yesterday, I let it listen to the sounds, and it quickly identified these species of birds. Still waiting anxiously to see my first painted bunting.

Graft Success: Flamin’ Fury Peach 🍑
Back on March 24th, we attempted to graft on a 5-year-old Lovell rootstock peach tree where the original scion had died. We performed bark grafts using Flamin’ Fury PF-24 scions. Out of 8 grafts, 3 have taken beautifully and are showing strong, vigorous growth!
Here’s the progress so far:
• March 24: Fresh bark grafts wrapped and ready
• April 13: Early healing stage
• April 30: Building strength
• May 20 & May 23: Explosive leafy growth.

Flamin’ Fury is known for its great flavor, size, and early-mid season production — perfect for Oklahoma!

Cane blight wiped out about 1/3 of our blackberries this spring. It’s been a challenging year for plums and peaches too, but no one said this would be easy. Years like this help us appreciate the good years. Hoping the other 2/3 of the Ponca blackberries hold on a few more weeks for UPick.
