This month, and every month, we join our community in celebrating love, diversity, and acceptance. At the Co-op, our doors are wide open to everyone. Our commitment to creating an inclusive space is not just a statement; it’s a core value that guides us year-round.

We believe every person deserves to feel welcomed, valued, respected, and safe. We proudly stand with our LGBTQ+ community and remain committed to fostering a space where everyone belongs.

In June, round up your purchases at the register to support the Stonewall Alliance Center, the North State’s LGBTQ+ community center. This Saturday, June 6 in celebration of Chico Pride, we will match all round-up donations up to $250. Look for us in the plaza as well! 🌈🌈🌈

MORE local? Yes, MORE local! Exciting news 🎉

As California-grown produce comes into season, our shelves are filling up with local and regional flavor. Look for our MORE tags to see what is fresh today.

And there’s even MORE good news to share: our MORE (Matching on Regional Eats) program has officially been funded for another year and will continue through June 2027! That means CalFresh shoppers can keep getting 75% off all California-grown produce when using their EBT card.

We love being able to bring more fresh, healthy food to our community while supporting small independent farmers. Help us share this news far and wide! The more people we can reach and welcome into our store, the better!

The election results are in! This year we saw more owner engagement and votes than ever before. Thank you for participating in our democratically run store. As a community-owned grocer, we are governed by the people who shop here. Your involvement is truly the backbone of our store.

First, the bylaws amendment passed. Owners voted to change the Board size from 7 directors to a flexible range of 5 to 9. This update will help the Board operate more effectively, respond to the co-op’s needs, and make space for new voices and perspectives.

Second, congratulations to the dedicated owners stepping up to help lead our store: Kathy Faith, Peter Ratner, and Valerie Simpson.

Back in the rotation for summer: our Summer Squash Quinoa Salad! This organic, vegan favorite is full of fresh flavor and features a mix of locally-grown summer squash from Comanche Creek: zucchini, zephyr, crookneck, costata romanesco, and scallop patty pan — summer squash really does have the best names, doesn’t it?

Combined with corn, olives, pumpkin seeds, and quinoa, this salad is built around what’s fresh right now.
