Chicago Market

Chicago Market Local, sustainable, organic, member-owned food cooperative coming to the Gerber Building at the CTA's Wilson train station. Why a Co-op?

Revolutionizing the way you shop for groceries. Become an Owner at www.chicagomarket.coop/join

What is Chicago Market? Chicago Market will be a big, bright, beautiful community-owned grocery store featuring local, sustainably farmed, organic produce, meat and dairy products, as well as all of the other staples you'd expect from your market -- dry goods, bulk foods, frozen foods, wine, beer and li

quor. We'll have delicious prepared foods and fresh-baked goods. Chicago Market exists to rebuild the connection between food producers and consumers. Because cooperative structure encourages serving owners first, not shareholders, our decisions are your decisions; our goals are your goals; our bottom line is your bottom line. Where will Chicago Market be? In the former Wilson 'L' station at the corner of Wilson and Broadway in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Why should you become an Owner? As an Owner, you will have the chance to create your dream grocery store while engaging with your local food community. Owners have a voice in store leadership, receive patronage refunds, and are eligible for special discounts and promotions. You will know that you are making a difference in the lives of shoppers, farmers, food producers and store employees. In addition to these tangible benefits, becoming an Owner gives even more back to your community:

You give a local farmer the chance to sell all of his produce to a single place so he can expend less fuel and spend less time delivering and more time farming. You give the planet a chance to heal from unsustainable practices that growers of single-crop farming are using. You give members of your community a place to meet, chat, take classes and garden. You give members of your community a great-paying job with benefitsโ€”all focused on delicious, healthy food. A one-time investment of $250 provides you and your household Ownership equity in Chicago Market. Join us at ChicagoMarket.coop to purchase your share.

We're so excited to be welcoming our new Director to the Board - Maribelle Gomez!

Our Organizational Development team met with her over the weekend to begin the orientation process. There's a lot to learn but we know it takes time and she'll have lots of support along the way.

To the right of the jar is the number 3500 and bleeding off the left side is a red scalloped circle and bleeding off the right side is a yellow one. At the bottom of the graphic it reads: Welcome New Owners!]
