Thanks to an incredible outpouring of community support, the Charlottesville City Market has been named the #4 farmers market in the country in American Farmland Trust’s 18th Annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration! 🇺🇸🌱

And Charlottesville showed up in a BIG way, with 6,003 votes! ❤️

This recognition belongs to our amazing vendors—the farmers, growers, bakers, makers, and small businesses who bring so much passion and hard work to our market every Saturday. They do more than sell their products; they support local agriculture, feed our community, create connections, and help make Charlottesville a wonderful place to call home.

🌧 Anticipated accumulation of rain is expected to result in saturated and muddy park grounds, creating challenging conditions for vendor setup, customer access, and safe operation of the market. Out of consideration for the safety of our vendors, customers, and staff, the market will not take place this Wednesday.

📦 Customers who have purchased CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares should contact their CSA provider directly for information about alternate pickup arrangements.

🌱 We look forward to welcoming the community back to Farmers in the Park on Wednesday, September 30, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, featuring seasonal produce, local meats, baked goods, and prepared foods from local vendors.

⚠️ Charlottesville City Market Cancelled – Saturday, July 18 ⚠️

Due to forecasted unhealthy air quality and a Heat Advisory, the Charlottesville City Market will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, July 18.

The safety of our vendors, customers, performers, and staff is our highest priority. The combination of extreme heat and poor air quality creates unsafe conditions for the many hours our market community spends outdoors.

We know this is disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding as we put the health and safety of our market community first.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Charlottesville City Market on Saturday, July 25, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.

In the meantime, you can continue supporting your favorite local farmers, food producers, and artisans by joining us at Farmers in the Park on Wednesday, July 22, from 3:00–7:00 PM at Pen Park. It's a great opportunity to stock up on fresh local produce, baked goods, meats, flowers, and handcrafted products while supporting the small businesses that make our markets so special.

🌿 Farmers in the Park has a new layout at Pen Park!

Starting this Wednesday, you'll find the market across the parking lot on the east side of Pen Park. Our new layout features more shade from mature trees, wider walkways, and additional space for customers to relax, enjoy their purchases, and connect with the community. The move also gives us room to expand future programming with live music and special events.

⚠️ Please note: Due to the Heat Advisory, Wind Down Wednesday has been canceled this week. Farmers in the Park will still be open from 3:00–7:00 PM with all your favorite local vendors.

If you're joining us, remember to drink plenty of water, take advantage of the shaded areas throughout the market, wear sun protection, and look out for one another in the summer heat.
