Meet the barn cat!

This cat is the official farm greeter. If you come to the farm stand you may be lucky enough for some attention from Tuxie. She is the friendliest cat you will ever meet. From the delivery driver to the farrier, if you stop at the farm, Tuxie will probably say "hello".

There are so many things I could talk about with this video but I'm just going to start with this.

The oldest hen.

This girl is my oldest hen. She was from the very first batch of chicks that I ordered. The group that introduced my son to the world of chickens.
Over the years the rest of those chickens have passed on of natural causes and new chickens have been added to the flock. But this girl will remain and be allowed to live out her life even after she stops laying.

Meet the young ones.

These are pullets that I got as babies in June. They are growing and currently in their own separate coop until they are old enough to start laying eggs. Which they will do at around 16 to 20 weeks of age.

The rooster's favorite hen...

While giving the chickens some treats I noticed the rooster's current favorite hen. How can I tell? She is missing a bunch of her back feathers. I will keep an eye on her but if she continues to be the favorite I may need to get her a chicken saddle (back cover). The chicken saddle works by covering up her back and allowing those feathers to regrow.

Pardon the dogs barking in the background, not sure if they were mine or the neighbors.
