🐝 We thought the honey flow was starting to slow down, but the bees had other plans!

The kids helped add more honey supers today as several colonies are still bringing in nectar and running out of room. A good problem to have! 🍯

Beekeeping keeps us guessing, and the bees are always in charge. 🐝🍯

After thousands of foraging trips by our bees, it’s finally extraction day. Fresh, raw local honey will soon be on its way to our farm stands and customers.

🐝 Queen update!

5 out of our 10 queen cells have hatched. Today, we placed the newly emerged queens along with the remaining unhatched queen cells into a queenless nuc.

A queenless nuc provides warmth and protection while the remaining queens emerge and the virgin queens prepare for their mating flights.

Now we wait and let nature do its work! 👑🐝

🍯 First batch of honey supers pulled!

The honey house is starting to fill up. These are the first supers of the season, with more still to come from the bee yards.

Now it’s time to extract, bottle, and get this year’s honey ready. We can’t wait to share it with you! 🐝🍯

🐝 Queen Rearing Update 👑

A few days ago, we grafted tiny larvae into queen cups and let the bees do the rest. After being fed royal jelly and raised as future queens, the cells are now capped and ready for the next stage.

To keep them safe, warm, and protected, we’ve moved the queen cells into an incubator. Within a couple of days, they’ll be placed into queenless hives and mating nucs where the new queens will emerge and begin their journey to becoming productive queens.

From a tiny larva to the future leader of a colony—nature never stops amazing us. 🐝
