Byrd's Pecans

10/02/2026

Ready for harvest. Picked six trees on Wednesday but not quite ready. Wildlife is hitting hard already so need to stay ahead of them. Going to try again this weekend. Need colder weather to help shuck split.

Everyone else....
Spend the day with us at the farm!! Harvesting demos, blow up slide for kids, hay rides through the grove spending the day under the pecan trees! Vernon Byrd LOVED to teach others about pecans so in order to carry on what he started, this is the one day out of the year that we invite EVERYONE to come to our farm and see what it is all about! Come and learn a thing or two about our pecans!

Got my first Pawnee’s, Colby and Kanza pecans for 2026 . This year‘s crop will be available in about 5-6 weeks. The nuts in this picture are pretty green still. Already fighting the crows, squirrels and the raccoons! Pawnee at the top, Colby in the middle and Kanza at bottom.

Female blooms are present and plenty of male pollen to go around. Still way early to tell what the crop looks like, but at least we know there will be a few!
