Last Friday, Mark Tishner and I Wax Dipped our New Honeybee Wood Items. It involves a technique that boils the moisture out of the wood and then the wax is pulled back into the pores to give the wood a 20 Year Preservative without any maintenance. We do have extra items waxed if interested for your Apiary.

For a Beekeeper, July is a complete gear shift. One goes from building hives for max honey production to leveling each hive to the same size, controlling mite levels for a healthy colony and preparing for winter. Oh, did I mention how mean the little devils are, it’s definitely the dog days of summer.

🍯 It’s 65 Degrees … Race Home after work, Jump into a Bee Suit and Feed some Pollen Patties to all 16 Colonies. What Thanks Do I Get? At least a Dozen Stings that were felt not including all the stingers in my gloves and pants.

Even with all those stings, I’m on Cloud 9 with this many making it through Winter. The best outcome from a winter, despite the cold, that I’ve ever had in 10 years.

Baker's Acres Bees is already getting ready for Spring Honey 2025. Just got to get them through the extreme up and down temperature swings. Currently, after doing some quick checks 16 out of 17 have made it so far. This morning I made a trip out of state with some friends to get 1,000 new style Hexagon style jars.
