See you next weekend at the Western mass vegan food fest!!!!

We will bring our entire product line , probably Italian sandwiches and maybe some new cheeses.

The last four years of building this company have been quite a grind, I feel so blessed and so full of gratitude that we’ve got this thing to where it’s at, and this summer we are going to slow down a little bit and find out what is what. Cutting back on weekend engagements, focusing on wholesale and the behind the scenes technical insanity of preparing our products for more national consumption.

Our homies at frinklepodfarm are well stocked with our products in their farm store … They even got our last batch of port wine sunflower cheese.
Keep your eyes open for the summer Vegan Markets in Arundel at Frinklepod…. Every second Sunday! Out of state people: these are worth coming to, really unique vegan events, we will be bringing Italians at least for the first one.
Funny to find this old photo on the net of one of our first pop ups there …. It’s amazing how much things have grown since then….

So excited to be back at the brunswicktopsham market tomorrow . We will have our full lineup of vegan meats and cheeses . Just upgraded our kitchen and ready for the 2026 season.

Some of our favorite perennial edibles are popping up ; nenking cherry, hablitzia (we’ve been using it in place of lettuce) , sweet cicely (one of our fav herbs tastes like licorice) . Big fan of “permaculture “ and the promise of “food forestry”

S/o to our OG hard cheeses “smoked cheddar” and “sharp white.”

This week we are demoing midcoast vegan hq 1.0, and are making significant improvements to our workspace. These improvements will allow us to continue to expand nationally, if we so choose. The demand is certainly there and the more our products get out on a national scale the more we realize that we can push this thing as far as we want. Now it’s a question of how do we want to live our lives and what sort of settlement can we make with capitalism itself?

This post also accompany photos of foraged perennial vegetables from our Homestead and a song I wrote 12 years ago called “capitalism is tearing us apart.” what to have to do with each other?

When I moved back here in 2018, to Homestead, I saw nothing on the horizon but economic collapse and ruins so I wanted to be apocalypse resistant … the situation called a Vegan Homestead, a vegan cheese farm growing and hazelnuts and chestnuts…. Of course by the time these trees are producing there’s no way they’ll meet the scale of our business, so things like that for me are more proof of concept. Can we use Siberian pea shrubs for pea protein ? 20 years from now will we have an all you can pick chestnut orchard ? This is where the idea for midcoast vegan came from, it’s why I chose sunflower seeds over cashews.

This business has a strange problem, we have not really had to solicit sales to stores(w 3 exceptions), all we have to do is say yes when people reach out to us and ask to carry our stuff. That’s why we never put much effort into our packaging, because our food literally sells itself.

anyway working for $ is something most of us have to do but for me the struggle is for life itself. We want to live well and eat well and as a “small business owner,” this year I will be setting some limits, I want to get back to music. I want to get back to farming, and I want to be a good dad.

Thank you for supporting this business, it has changed our lives over here and we are so grateful for this opportunity.

Last night we made tagine with nettles and ramps, and it was delicious.

Fight the power eat the weeds and get it how you live!!!
