🐝 Want to catch more swarms? My dad and I walk through our entire process—from building the trap and choosing a location to finding the queen and transferring the colony into a hive.

🐝 Ever wondered how beekeepers catch wild honey bee swarms?

In this video, my dad and I show you exactly how we build simple swarm traps from 5-gallon buckets, where we hang them, and how we transfer a captured swarm into a hive.

This trap successfully caught a colony, and we take you through the entire process from building the trap to finding the queen and moving the bees into their new home.

If you’ve ever wanted to catch free bees and grow your apiary, this method has worked well for us here in East Texas.

Have you ever caught a swarm before? Let me know in the comments! 🍯🐝

🍯 Did you know honey can have too much moisture? Watch how I test and prepare this fresh harvest before bottling.

🐝 The bees did their job. Now it’s my turn to do mine. 🍯

Most people don’t realize that harvesting honey is only part of the process. Before this batch is bottled, I check the moisture content with a refractometer to make sure it’s at the right level for quality and long-term storage.

This batch came out at 18.5% moisture, so I’m letting my dehumidifier do a little work before it reaches the jar. Every step matters when you’re producing the best honey possible.

From the hive to your table, I’m committed to bringing you premium local East Texas honey.

POV: You get called for a bee removal and discover an angry underground army instead. 😬 One sting through the suit was all it took.

06/02/2026

Got a call today for what was thought to be a honey bee removal. After looking at the photos, I suspected they weren’t bees at all—they turned out to be a large yellowjacket nest hidden underground.

These insects can be extremely aggressive and dangerous, especially around homes, pets, and children. After carefully removing the nest, I was reminded just how defensive they can be when one managed to sting me right through my bee suit on the ear!

Not every buzzing insect is a honey bee, and proper identification is important before attempting any removal.

Have you ever accidentally disturbed a yellowjacket nest? Let me know in the comments!

Check out these amazing SUNFLOWER BEES 🐝

06/01/2026

Most people see a bee on a sunflower and assume it's a honeybee, but these are actually sunflower bees! 🌻🐝

Unlike honeybees, sunflower bees are native solitary bees. They don't live in large hives or make honey. Instead, each female builds her own nest and spends her days collecting pollen—especially from sunflowers. They're incredible pollinators and play an important role in helping native plants thrive.

It's amazing to watch these little specialists doing exactly what nature designed them to do.

Have you ever noticed the different types of bees visiting your flowers?
