Follow them at Barry Farms

Katie's parents started Barry Farms in Mills River, NC, back in 1988 with a strong focus on plant and herb production. In the summers as a kid, Katie would help her dad in the garden with all the flowers (and vegetables). She's been working on the farm since she could walk!

Katie has taken over most of the responsibilities of Barry Farms and will always produce plants and herbs, since those are Barry Farms' roots. But she has put more of a focus on the cut flower production, after finding a huge passion over the years in making beautiful things with the flowers she grows -- fresh or dried!

This work is a true labor of love, and Katie is thrilled to share it with you. Come see her on Saturday mornings at the Transylvania Farmers Market!

Happy Friday, everyone! Tomorrow morning, Sam will be at the Hendersonville Farmers Market from 8am-1pm. You'll find me in Brevard, at the Transylvania Farmers Market, which starts at 9am and goes until noon. We will have all your favorites and lots of cantaloupe microgreens this weekend. If you haven't tried cantaloupe microgreens, they're really great and have a lot of nutritional benefits. I snapped some images from the internet about their nutritional benefits and ways to use them; take a look. I will attach the ways to use them in the comment section. This week, please join us in welcoming our newest vendor, Big Deal Oatmeal, offering hearty and delicious oatmeal creations that are perfect for breakfast and beyond.

Jenny's Minis Donut Bus is also back at the market this week! Stop by for their fresh, made-to-order mini donuts and enjoy a sweet treat while you shop. We also have Greg Trollinger and Mark Queen providing us with music to listen to as you stroll through the market.

Looking for inspiration for your market haul? The Cooperative Extension team will be on-site with a food demonstration featuring a fresh and seasonal Arugula and Three-Pea Salad. Be sure to stop by for samples, recipes, and tips for making the most of local produce.

As always, you'll find an incredible selection of local fruits, vegetables, meats, baked goods, artisan products, and more. We look forward to seeing you at the market this week!
