That’s a wrap on this season of the Bloomington Winter Farmers Market!

Thank you for showing up week after week, supporting local, and making this market what it is. From our incredible vendors to every single shopper — this community is the reason it works.

A special thank you to our March sponsors who helped bring the final stretch of this season to life:

BuffaLouie’s — a Bloomington staple serving up wings, burgers, and a whole lot of local tradition.

Gables Bagels — bringing fresh, East Coast-style bagels to Bloomington.

Jordan Davis with Taste of Bloomington — the force behind Food Truck Friday and No Dishes, creating spaces for our local food scene to thrive.

Your support plays a huge role in keeping this market running and growing for our community.

We’re so grateful for your support.

See you next season!

Join us for the final market of the Bloomington Winter Farmers' Market season!

As you can see, we have a wonderful group of your favorite local vendors for our last fling at Switchyard Park for Spring 2026!

We promise there will be the best fresh produce, meats, flowers, eggs & farm products; the tastiest creations from local food artisans; the most amazing array of hand-made local crafts, great tunes, and the friendliest folks who can't wait to see you there!

All this and fantastic live local music means that you will not want to miss the Bloomington Winter Farmers' Market this Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Bloomington's own Switchyard Park - City of Bloomington, IN Pavilion at 1601 S. Rogers St.

Thank you to all who have made this market season possible! We would like to give a special thank you to musician Caleb Stine for filling in beautifully as our second musical guest last week with very little notice and not nearly enough fanfare!

I don't have much in the way of farm photos for you this week, but that's because it's been a SUPER productive week here. We had juuuuust enough of a dry spell for our outdoor beds to dry out, so we spent 2 days doing as much field work as we could. We got over 100 beds cleaned up and ready to go for the year. We got some mulch on our onion beds (and another layer on the garlic). We did some outdoor seeding and transplanting, followed by frost covers because of course it is still March.
After all that, we spent the rest of the week hauling in a pretty big harvest! Lettuce and radish numbers will be double what we had last week, so if you missed them then, make sure to come see us tomorrow! Shiitakes are being a little fussy this week, but all other mushroom yields were very high. We'll have more chestnut mushrooms available than we've had for a while. Spinach, spicy mix, microgreens, pea and sunflower shoots, will all be gracing our tables as well.
We made it through a very windy week, and two stormy nights without any greenhouse damage. These extreme weather shifts have all of your local farmers nervous for the year. We're seeing 50 and 60 degree drops in less than 24 hours. We're fighting insect pressure that's 2 months earlier than normal, and we've had some of our new spicy greens bolt before sizing up. Let's hope we're not in for quite this much craziness for all of 2026.
Carmel customers, it's our last time seeing you until May! Come visit Jordan before the April break. Bloomington and Broad Ripple will continue as normal in April, with Bloomington moving outdoors after this week. Thanks everyone, and we'll see you tomorrow!

This week's second vendor highlight is Metta Gardens Ferments! 🎉

"We began making raw fermented sauerkraut for ourselves in 2014 strictly for the health benefits. We liked it so much we started selling it at local farmers markets. It contains no vinegar and has never been heated. We make the sauerkraut in several varieties (including Caraway, Classic, Golden, and Southwestern) plus Kimchi in Mild, Medium and Hot in both traditional (which contains fish sauce) and vegan (no fish sauce). In March 2019 we began selling to retail stores, delis, cafés and co-ops, in addition to our regular farmers markets.

"We have been specializing in fermented foods for probiotic health benefits for over a decade. Sauerkraut and kimchi were our first products. We have since added sourdough breads and sourdough pasta to our menu. The fermentation process in sourdough helps make it easier to digest and lowers the glycemic index.

"We also make lightly fermented pickles with either italian seasonings or our spicy sambal hot chili paste. Our romesco sauce is not fermented but is our longest selling product. It pairs well with everything from bread and pasta to meats and vegetables. And it's gluten free! Homemade traditional chex mix and sweet praline party mix are favorites all year long, not just for holidays anymore. Also gluten free.

"You can order our products on MarketWagon year round and especially during the summer months when we are primarly at Indianapolis farmer's markets."

Find Metta Gardens Ferments every Saturday at the Bloomington Winter Farmers Market!
