🎃 Frights & Finds in Downtown Bloomington this Saturday!

After Howl at the Market wraps up, we’re keeping the doors open at 212 N Center St until 5pm so you can keep the Halloween fun going. Bring the kids by in costume and we’ll have small chocolate chip cookies to hand out, baked in Champaign by our team at Central Illinois Bakehouse.

While you’re here, grab a loaf of sourdough for the weekend, pick up some Prairie Fruits Farm cheese for a Halloween night snack board, or check out this month’s croughnuts, Pumpkin Pie & Peanut Butter Monster Cookie, it’s gone.

Frights & Finds is a downtown-wide event, so make a whole afternoon of it. Walk Center Street in costume, stop into participating businesses, and see what Halloween surprises are waiting along the way.

Our Food Hubs aren't just a Bakehouse bread stand anymore. Walk in and you'll find Hinks BBQ Sauce, gelato from Goat & Pail, meats from Abundant Pastures, milk from Kilgus Farmstead, and more, all sitting alongside the CIB bread and pastries you already know.

Every one of those makers started out selling at a farmers market table just like the ones outside our doors. We like giving them a second spot to reach people, and giving you a reason to meet a new producer every time you stop by.

Saturday at both hubs: Bloomington, 212 N Center St, 7am-2pm.
Springfield, 308 E Adams St, 8am-2pm.

It's soup season, and we've got the bread for it.
Central Illinois Bakehouse's Yukon Garlic Sourdough is loaded with roasted whole cloves of garlic and chunks of Yukon Gold potatoes, folded right into their classic sourdough. Hearty, savory, and the kind of loaf that makes you want to make soup just to have an excuse to eat it.

Find it Saturday at both Food Hubs: 212 N Center St in Bloomington (store open 7am-2pm) and 308 E Adams St in Springfield (store open 8am-2pm), right alongside your local farmers markets.

Reason 384 why do you need to get to the Food Hub early on Saturday.

Central Illinois Bakehouse's Almond Croissant starts as their classic flaky croissant, gets dipped in simple syrup and filled with almond paste, then baked a second time and topped with more almond paste, sliced almonds, and powdered sugar. Worth setting an alarm for.

Almond croissants are stocked fresh Saturday morning: Bloomington (212 N Center St, 7am-2pm) and Springfield (308 E Adams St, 8am-2pm).

Saturday morning plans: our Food Hubs are open rain or shine, right alongside the farmers markets in Bloomington and Springfield.

Bloomington: 212 N Center St, store open 7am-2pm, Downtown Bloomington Farmers Market runs 7:30am-12pm right outside.
Springfield: 308 E Adams St, store open 8am-2pm, Old Capitol Farmers Market runs 8am-12:30pm.

Two croughnut flavors this month. Snap, Crackle, Croughnut: our classic croughnut topped with fluffy vanilla marshmallow glaze, toasted cinnamon Rice Krispies, and chunks of milk chocolate.

And Blackberry Cobbler: the same flaky croughnut topped with a creamy blackberry glaze and a brown butter cobbler crumble.

Come try one, or both.

Hey Bloomington Normal Friends!

Whaddya say we meet up at the farmers market today? Grab some coffee at Lab Coffee? Stroll around, buy some fresh veggies, talk to the people who grow or raise the food. Grab a croughnut for that sweet Instagram pic. I wanna see them! Tag us and I’ll share!

We just got word that Center st will be open for driving through. What does that mean for you- us?
We will still have all of our breads out under the canopy. You can pull up and park on the street and make the short walk to our store and Candice Anderson, CFD, ICPF 🥐 This is actually making things easier for you!

My favorite people are at the farmers market 💕

As I was scrolling through memory lane in my bread album looking for that one photo of the PBJ croughnut, I thought I would highlight a few of my favorite things.
Of course our croughnuts- last call on PBJ and Birthday cake fyi! But let’s not forget the rosemary olive ciabatta, Paczki, the baked on cheese goodness of an Asiago sourdough bagel, the huge cinnamon roll made with croissant dough, cheese and cherry filled danish, and the classic artisan sourdoughs- that just go with everything.
These are a few of my favorite bakehouse goodies - what keeps you coming back to the market?

Tomorrow morning we will be open 7-2 - come early for the best selection.
