It’s fall, y’all! Lots of leaves falling… use them to create organic matter for your garden. Decomposed leaves help soil retain moisture, and they add beneficial fungi to your soil!

My children’s friends know they are going to eat some veggies when they come to our house. Farm mom can’t let a child walk by without serving a vegetable, right? One friend arrived this evening and requested my kale chips and some sunflower shoots. Made my day! Those kale chips went flying off the pan into the mouths of four hungry boys. I almost had to throw some elbows to get some myself!

Come see us at the Black Mountain Tailgate Market for some delicious curly kale and make your own kale chips for a snack or side. Remove the stalks and tear into large pieces. Pat dry (this is the most important part!). Rub a little olive oil on the bottom of the pan, then use your hands to gently spread the olive oil onto the leaves. Sprinkle on a little garlic salt and bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Enjoy!

Thanks to RAFI for hosting a fun Western NC producers gathering this evening. It was so nice to connect with new and old friends to discuss farming, life, and farm policy. We appreciate organizations like RAFI that help farmers survive and thrive! Leesfarm Lee Tierra Fertil Coop

Everything is tucked in tight. So grateful for my amazing husband and his hard work and help ahead of the storm. Thinking of all those in the path of the storm and hoping just for a gentle rain. Stay safe, y’all!

We’ve got lots of great veggies and we hope to see you soon!

We had a small but mighty crew harvesting your organic veggies for the Black Mountain Tailgate Market on Saturday. Come see us from 9-12 pm for tomatoes, peppers, greens, fresh ginger, and so much more!

So grateful for some rain this week to get more of our fall and winter crops into the ground. This is one of my favorite times of year on the farm. It is always hard to say goodbye to some of those beloved summer crops, but it is time to make room for cool season veggies. We removed a few rows of tomatoes and basil this week. While they were still producing, it was time to plant more spinach, celery, and lettuce in their place.

Moving with the seasons, we welcome fall and the (slightly) slower pace it brings to the farm. Hope to see YOU tomorrow at the market!

Y’all- have you tried Trillium yet? It is an amazing Farm to Table restaurant located in the Red Rocker Inn in Black Mountain. They are truly walking the walk when it comes to farm to table. They are purchasing our produce each week, and I had the opportunity to go last week and enjoy the amazing things they are doing. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed every moment. table
