This is the time to harvest herbs for drying or freezing, before they begin to flower. Once a plant flowers, the oils that give the herb its flavor retreats from the leaves and goes to the flower. Left to right: parsley, oregano and lemon thyme.

This is a summer squash (Zucchino Rampicante) from LAST YEAR. And it's not even soft. !!! We probably won't eat it, it's likely too fibrous at this point, but I'm still mightily impressed!

We were able to get the onions planted before the rain, yay! 😄

Getting ready to head in for the day, finished covering beds with compost, hay and cardboard for the winter. Normally our beds are too wet in the spring to prepare, so doing this allows us to plant very early in the spring for crops like shallots and cabbage.
