5:30 am, got to beat the birds! no roses to harvest, sad. Picked blueberries then turned them into ghosts! Next have to ghost the elderberries.

7/16/25 report
I'm a 60-plus person; as such, in my village, we are given lunch twice a week. The food is edible, and the companionship is great. Every five weeks or so, a tall strappin' fellow arrives with large boxes of produce to give us. There is always an abundance of giant carrots and a head of cabbage.

Yesterday I made carrot juice jelly and Persian carrot rosewater w/cardamom jam. Both very yummy.

Today started homemade sauerkraut.

still to do-- pick roses & blueberries
"Ghost" the blueberries and elderberries (white netting to keep birds from stealing the harvest. I leave the birds all the wild blackberries and tops of cherry trees' fruit they can handle.

7/14/25 Blueberries have arrived! half a pint -but still a surprise
Roses are sparse this year-2.5 cups a day, which makes one batch of rose water.
Today, finishing carrot jelly/carrot & rose cardamom jam/rhubarb & red chili jam/and blueberry tarts. Starting Tipsy Onion Jam.

Positive: New market (Oxford, NY) is going very well. New Berlin Market vendors are pitching in to keep it alive!

Not so positive: This is mostly for the record (so I can get a baseline/data) Was able to walk out to orchard-first time since starting insulin...Docs are not helping with the muscle weakness and pain in my legs. It is clearly inflammation & lymphedema, but I haven't sussed out all the triggers... Sat/Sunday, I was crippled and barely able to move.
