An inside look at the late Spring freeze ⬇️ (read more of this story on our blog!):

“Ben’s anxious conscious was tamed only by his efforts to bring warmth into the orchards (via large brush fires) at the coldest hour of the day (roughly an hour before sunrise), despite this effort “actually” making a difference. At the very least, he was able to demonstrate his resilient dedication and passion for this work….by showing this to the fourth generation (Bea and Tuckie arrived home that evening covered with smoke and soot).”

On April 8th, the overnight temperatures at our Berlin Heights farm suddenly dropped and freezing conditions moved in...resulting in a significant crop loss for the 2026 season.

An important update from the farm…

Fruit farming is a tricky business to be in. So much of what we do depends on Mother Nature’s cooperation. After an incredibly abundant crop last year, we entered Spring feeling hopeful. But after a sudden overnight temperature drop hit at one of the most critical points in the growing season, our cherry and peach crops experienced significant damage.

It’s disappointing, but farming teaches patience, resilience, and hope! We’ll keep doing everything we can for our crops and look ahead to what’s coming.

Here’s where things stand for the season:
🍒 There won’t be any Pick Your Own cherries this year, but whatever we CAN harvest will be available inside the Market Barn.
🧺 Limited raspberry picking will be available in late June and early July.
🍑 Limited Pick Your Own Workshops for Peaches will be available.
🌻 Hoping for some pick your own sunflowers in September (if the deer don’t eat them again)
🍎 The apple crop is looking promising! Fingers crossed for a great fall!

The good news is that there are so many other ways to support and experience Quarry Hill!

- We have a full lineup of festivals at the farm - including our 10 Year Anniversary of Apple Peak!

- Quarry Cones Real Fruit Ice Cream is now open weekends (Friday-Sunday, 12pm-6pm)

- Quarry Hill Winery is open year round with seasonal wine offerings and a delicious lunch menu, plus live music every Friday and Saturday night.

- Our Market Barn is stocked and will be ready for you to shop in late June!

- We have select dates available for picnics on the farm prepared by our friend Dena at Northridge Farm

- Book a group tour any season for your friends, colleagues, family and more.

Seasons like this are a reminder of how much local farms rely on community support. We can’t wait to see you out here!

Before our sign takes its final resting place at the farm, we had to have the perfect place to put it! You may have noticed that our packhouse is also under construction these days. What you may not know, is that there used to be a stone wall right in front of the packhouse.

This wall was made with stones directly from the quarries that sit on our 400-acre farm. Our friend,Dan from Cornerstone Concrete & Masonry has worked with us to repurpose these stones into this GORGEOUS structure to hold our brand sign. So now you’ll know when you take a picture with our new sign, you’re also capturing a part of Quarry Hill history with it!

Since Stella’s final run, this part of Quarry Hill has been buzzing. The framework is up, the roof is on, and we’re moving right along with stage two of the packhouse expansion.

This time of year makes it feel a little all-consuming…warmer weather is here, and our packing equipment is still “in progress” (harvest will be here before we know it!).

We’re incredibly grateful for an amazing team of contractors (and for Ben’s background as a professional civil engineer) helping keep everything moving efficiently.

As grading and roofing wrap up, we’re excited for what’s next. It still takes some imagination walking through mid-construction, but we can already picture the future: Ben’s new office, a spot for Poppy Bill’s gator, and even a new loft space.

Follow along as the new packhouse continues to come to life and check out the “packhouse” highlight reel on our profile for more updates!
