“stars”
greetings! the sun has set on our 2025 market season, and what a season it was indeed! in it’s place a full harvest moon has come to guide us gently through the rest of fall and on into the winter and spring seasons….
we would be remiss not to honour, now, the many stars up in the northwest crossing saturday farmer’s market sky— the bright beacons of light who paved the way for a seemless experience for you, our market attendees.
among the market staff you may have seen scurrying about the streets, there is:
💫 melissa king, market director. she’s a supernova, this one. melissa is an elite event manager. and she makes it all look effortless. any end of season poll would find unanimous feedback among the vendors that they felt listened to and well cared for. she is the spark, the glue, the magician, and the onsite master. this market is anchored by this incredibly talented, gifted, human, who has etched herself squarely into the pantheon of c3events greatness. amazing. melissa is amazing.
💫 todd harmon, head of operations. todd provided oversight to a crew that diligently set up no parking signs on friday nights and closed the streets with a few dozen road closure signs and barricades each week. his folks/crew placed sponosor banners down the middle of the streets, set up dining tables and chairs and market umbrellas, set up portable generators for live musicians, and tended to garbage event equipment care. he was a quiet, reliable, force!
💫 lauranne crooks, assistant to the market director. lauranne has been working with us at the market for a number of years now and has worked at many of our sister events as a bar manager. she brings an unabashed smile, unrivaled steadiness, and a willingness to do whatever it takes. all that and she is completely lovely.
💫 jessi yeoman, social media, community relations, market management. jessica fires at a whole other level of lumens. she ran our maiden night market, and took a couple spins this summer providing oversight for the farmers market. jessi magically personifies “competence.” she’s simply damn good at whatever she puts her mind to. we’ve been so lucky to have her share her gifts.
💫 pete kartsounes, street busker. it’s such a privilege to have pete make our market a residency this summer. his talent is “other level” stuff— the vibe he brought laid down the perfect soundtrack for the market. he’s a phenom who lit up the streets with his beautiful sounds, all summer!
💫 jaymi dickinson, street busker. jaymi cut her chops singing at our market as a young teen-ager, every week, every summer, all the way up until her recent departure to college. she’s such a delight. it’s been an honour to watch her grow into her sizable talents as a singer and songwriter. we can’t wait for her to come back again next summer.
💫 additional mention goes to nathan kooy who, without complaint, pinch hits and does a little bit of anything and everything. dirty secret is that we couldn’t do this market without him. also, blake ditullio, kevin patterson, and roman mendez for getting up early each saturday and doing the very hard work of setting up the market and tearing it down. we could not have done this all without you. so thank you gentlemen. well done, bravo. we were also blessed by tom scott’s local marimba troop (a group that’s been performing at our market since middle school and now they’ve all left for college), the middle and highschool marimba kids of richland, washington (weren’t they amazing?), and of course, a mighty thanks to you, the regular market attendees who orbit our brilliant stars, and support all the good that is radiating from northwest crossing each saturday…. thank you thank you thank you!
and so now, as we put the market to bed, please don’t confuse our quiet here with an absence of vitality. there are many moving parts needed, during the off season months, to prepare for the 2026 season’s may 30th opening. we have already launched our “call to market vendors”- and registration is robust! we feel privileged to be able to present this world class farmer’s market (notably the largest of it’s kind in oregon). can’t wait to do it again this coming may!
