2 men from 2 different time lines with 1 thing in common.. the love of the haunt! Im not sure where to begin here with unpacking the tons of history and meaning of this photo but its 20 years of my life and i will be mentioning some of our beloved fallen characters that will always be remembered as the haunt lovers that they was. More like the life and soul of the show.. photo credits to Brett Pittman
This photo was taken 06/06/25 of myself and John Jeffries (former operator/owner of harrodsburg haunted house) history of both 👇
This year marks my 20th anniversary of being in the haunt industry for me. I started at 9 years old at Bakers Junction Haunted Train where my love for all things horror became the soul lf a passion i once only dreamed of. As a young child i would take the trails that are now known as "hell on the hill" and my friends London-Paige Marie Sudduth and Leon Lane and Elisa Watson and Jason Mullis and i would dress it all up as a haunted trail and build little club houses or haunt actor room's. Little did i know that one day it would be a reality. As a haunt actor and a helping hand for the haunted train i began to draw a lot in books of my fantasy world of one day running a haunted attraction. Once i turned 22 i started to think maybe i should give it a shot and i decided to build a haunt in my garage and my carport and this is the first time i stepped away from the haunted train since my start at 9 years old. The haunt as we know it now "hell on the hill" has a ton of made history in the last 6 years. We have had mentions from the news and radio and paranormal investigators. Even sammy terry met with me and made a little ad video for us.. there is way to much history to mention with bakers junction haunted train however if you want to learn more about them please feel free to reach out to them and read his books and ask questions because that family is always welcoming and friendly to all those who are interested in learning all about it.
The man pictured beside me is john Jeffries a.k.a mr. Scary (owner/operator of harrodsburg haunted house) it was so awesome to meet john and to be speaking with john over the last year about haunts and projects. John has mentioned his history as well 👇
John Jeffries-
I was born in florida, we visited Disney on a regular basis, that was also inspiration for the effects I did. I've been asked to do a book, but I've always brushed it off... 1st haunt was in our basement. I was 9. Two years later, was given use of a building, we took donations and started the harrodsburg youth group. Jay cees wanted to talk with whoever was putting it on, they didnt believe it was me, so my brother said it was "mr.scary, and he does not do interviews or has his photo taken." That was the start of him. In 86, we moved and used the building we were in till it closed. I stepped away at 30 years of doing it, it was ran by family for a couple years after, then closed up. My wife and I
Were married Oct 31st 2000 at the haunt, officiated by an ordained cast member. To this day, no one has seen Mr. Scary, hence the blackout mask I wore. That was part of his mystique
Huge shout out to our lost family. the people that loved the haunts and have always been apart of the haunt family. My father tim Robinson, klown, bob carter, stanley lane jr. Gone but never forgotten and a part of each of these people have inspired whats still alive today.
