A few more days y’all 😭

Good morning, Jewel had her best day of eating yet yesterday! As you saw she loves her grazing time and munching on all her grass. With all her options of grain yesterday, her favorite was yours from home and our sweet feed, eating almost 2 scoops over the entire day. With her bloodwork today, her protein did drop slightly. However, I believe we are slowly correcting her lipemia, which can skew protein results. Meaning her protein could have been slightly lower this entire time and due to us correcting lipemia we are now seeing her true values. With how she is looking clinically and the progress we are making with her appetite, I will plan to keep an eye on this closely, but I am not overtly concerned at this time. -Dr Alyssa

I would like a couple more days of monitoring to ensure her total protein does not drop drastically again and to make sure she continues to have an appetite. -Dr. Alyssa

Good morning, Jewel has continued to pass normal manure and eat grass throughout the day yesterday. She has again maintained her total protein overnight. However, she is still being particular in the grain she will eat. She will eat one type one day and decide she doesn't want it the next. If you still plan on visiting her, if you would like to bring some of your grain from home, I would love to try it with her. She is excited to see you both! -Dr. Alyssa

Two events, two teams, and one very busy night for Hartland Oaks!

Todd and Chris headed to Richmond for a harvest festival while Mariah and I took the animals to Lake Jackson. Both events were crazy busy, and we’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by, visited with the animals, and made room for us in your evening.

We’re tired, the animals are ready to call it a night, and our hearts are full. Thank you for supporting Hartland Oaks wherever we show up!

Good morning, Jewel continues to be angel! She has been able to maintain her total protein levels, since her plasma transfusion and has continued to pass normal manure. This is a good first step, now we would like to see her be able to increase that value overtime. We have started to take her on hand grazing walks and she loves to explore. She is still being picky about what grain she is eating and nibbles on hay, but continues to eat grass. I have offered her a small buffet this morning of grain to see if she perfers any over the other and will continue to entice her. - Dr. Alyssa

I’m still catching up on posts, but I had to share these photos from a friend’s wedding. Chris and Mariah took Prince and Jewel along to celebrate with the happy couple, and they were such a special part of the day.

This was before Jewel got sick, and I’m so grateful they got to be there and make memories with everyone. 🤍

We had the sweetest time celebrating Grayson’s 3rd birthday! He had a blast with the animals, and his friends and family were just lovely. Thank you for spending part of your special day with us, Grayson—we hope you had the best birthday!

What a day! We started with a party celebrating a very special 3-year-old, then headed to the Needville Harvest Park Festival to keep the fun going.

After 14 hours on the go, our animals are officially clocked out and ready for some well-earned rest. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, visited with them, and made tonight so special. We’re grateful to be part of this community and its celebrations.
