In 2016, we bought and moved into the farm house on our land and before we knew it we ended up here....
May 2020 - We hauled in 40 tons of gravel to rebuild our barn floors. 20 T was moved into the horse stalls to level and compact for stall floors. The other 20 T was used in the big barn to rebuild flooring that was destroyed by wildlife. We built and staked our greenhouse in the vegetable garden after a year or so in it’s box.
April 2020 - Due to COVID, we were furloughed and got the opportunity to dig deep in getting the horse barn running. We removing the ceiling insulation, replaced all of the light bulbs with LED, power washed the entire barn, removed any damaged or aged hardware, scoured the walls for any nail pops or screws, gutted the gutters, built a water collection system, replaced roofing panels, and so on. All of our electric was replaced and outlets were installed at every stall. We panic bought another dozen chicks and hatched two of our own.
February 2020 - We lost the last bird from the original three, Becky. She was a crowd favorite. We broke ground on our brand new home. We wish we knew what else 2020 had in store for us then!
September 2019 - Innovation takes the lead and we simplify our chicken feeding and watering systems are mostly self-sufficient.
April 2019 - Richard Dale Huntwork III joins us on our adventure. Gardens are dug and birds are fed with a sweet pea on our back or close by in a stroller.
September 2018 - We announce that a sweet little boy is joining the now dozen birds, wild puppy, and old house cat on the the Huntwork farm. Our next six months is full of farm work and preparing for the newest addition. We built our enclosed tack room in the horse barn and started planning for renovations.
June 2018 - We replace our first sign with a heavy duty frame and etched logo sign.
March 2018 - We welcome our first round of chicks and take in a small flock from a local hobby farmer.
July 2017 - We officially receive our LLC selling farm fresh produce and eggs from our rickety old farm stand.
June 2017- We attend our first farmers market and hung out first street sign.
April 2017 - We bring the first three laying hens onto the farm. We dug our first vegetable garden.
March 2017 - Chicken coop goes up and we frame and screen their run. We pull the antique firetruck out of the horse barn with the backhoe.
February 2017 - We welcome the first Huntwork farm dog, Mace Windu a golden mix rescue from Pet Promise.
Fall 2016 - Interior farm house renovation. All new carpet and paint before we move in to our first home.
This has been our dream since long before we knew it was even an option. With the tireless support of our family, friends, and community, Huntwork Acres Homestead, LLC we will continue to learn and grow. Thank you each for your continued support.
