SUPPORT SHOULD ALWAYS GO BOTH WAYS. 🖤
Let me make something very clear, respectfully and professionally.
As a small business owner, I receive countless messages, emails, and phone calls from organizations, nonprofits, and companies asking for donations, sponsorships, and financial support.
And while I have always believed in giving back to our community, I also believe in MUTUAL SUPPORT.
You cannot continuously ask small businesses to open their wallets when you have never walked through their doors, purchased a single product, supported their events, or even acknowledged the causes they work so hard to support.
Community support is a two-way street, not a one-way transaction.
For years, I have invested my own money, time, resources, and energy into giving back to Bakersfield and the families who need it most. Not because I have to, not for recognition, but because I genuinely love my community.
But understand something: Small businesses are not unlimited sources of donations. We have employees to pay, overhead to cover, families to provide for, and doors to keep open.
Before asking a local business what they can do for your organization, ask yourself:
What have we done to support that local business?
I’m not asking anyone for a handout. I’m asking for the same consideration and support that so many expect from us.
I will continue giving back, supporting meaningful causes, and investing in the community that has supported me. But moving forward, I will be much more selective about where my resources go.
Partnerships should be built on relationships, not just donation requests.
Respectfully,
Mr. Wagyu 🖤
