We’re excited to be part of the 2nd Annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat at Aynor Town Park!! 🧡💜

🍬 Come out for a night full of Halloween fun, candy, costumes, and LOTS of spooky excitement!

We can’t wait to see all the little ghosts, goblins, witches, and superheroes dressed up and ready for some trick-or-treating! 🕷️🎃

Around here, the work never stops! When the guys aren’t out in the fields farming, you can find them on a machine somewhere clearing land!

Long days, hard work, and a little dirt never hurt anybody! 🤎 That’s just the country way of life — there’s always something to be done, and these boys are always finding a way to get it done! 💪🏼🚜

From the farm to the job site, we stay busy! 🌾🌳

I saw a post recently that said, “America isn’t running short on farmers. We’re running out of people who can afford to farm.”

And boy, isn’t that the truth.

I know history repeats itself. I know agriculture has been through hard times before, and I know farmers are some of the most resilient people you’ll ever meet. But that doesn’t make what’s happening right now any easier.

I know some really good farmers, people who do everything right, who have had to scrape the bottom of the barrel, take on another job or find another source of income just to keep the farm going. Not because they’ve forgotten how to farm, or they aren’t willing to work. It’s the numbers that don’t work.

Right now, it feels like everything is working against the farmer. Inputs, interest, equipment, repairs, insurance and land costs keep climbing, while we’re still selling commodities into a market where we have very little control over what we’re paid.

And somehow, we’re expected to just keep finding a way.

Maybe we will. Farmers usually do.

I just hope and pray that everyone can stay afloat long enough to see the other side of this cycle. Because once a family farm is gone, getting it back isn’t nearly as easy as losing it.

There are plenty of people willing to farm. We just have to make sure they can afford to keep doing it.

And how to do that? I have no idea…

Today is National Farmers Day. 🌾

Less than 2% of Americans are directly involved in production agriculture, yet that small group of people carries a pretty big responsibility.

Around 95% of U.S. farms are family farms. Families growing the food, feed and fiber we all depend on while taking on a whole lot of risk to do it.

Farmers put a crop in the ground without knowing what the weather is going to do, what the market will look like at harvest, or sometimes even what it will cost to get that crop across the finish line. We don’t get to set the price of what we sell, and we sure don’t get to set the price of what it costs us to grow it.

But we keep going.

Agriculture has come a long way. Better genetics, better equipment and technology have allowed farmers to grow more with less and become more efficient than generations before us. But at the end of the day, farming still comes down to families willing to take the risk, put in the work, take care of the land and have enough faith to do it all over again next year.

So today, be thankful for the farmers. But more than that, support agriculture and understand what it takes to keep farmers farming.

Because we don’t just need farmers today. We need to make sure the next generation can afford to farm tomorrow.

Happy National Farmers Day to all of the farm families out there doing their best to keep going. 🌾🇺🇸
