The market actually begins a week before this. Hope to see everyone there! The bees have been very busy making honey and I hope to have some ready for harvest by then!

Catching a swarm.

It's honeybee swarm season! Don't panic, it's the way honeybee colonies multiply. The old colony will get a new queen and the old queen is leaving to find a new home. Swarming honeybees may look scary, but when swarming they rarely sting because they are gorged with honey and have no home to protect. That is how you see the pictures of people with bee beards. They put the queen on their chin and the worker bees all just want to be close to her.

The last thing that Jesus ate before he ascended to Heaven was honeycomb (Luke 24:42 KJV). I'm sure I must have read it before but it just struck me this morning thanks to the message by Pastor Jeremiah Gabbard at Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro!

This is our new puppy ('Blue' or 'Si' - we haven;t decided yet for sure). He's an "Old Dominion" Decker Terrier and he is 6 weeks old. He will be in charge of guarding our fruit trees from the squirrels.

It was a beautiful day for the market today! We're open through Oct 11, and then we'll be closed until the first week of June 2026.
