Did you know a fire started it all?

After the Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, farmers gathered under a large tent to sell livestock and produce. That temporary market grew into something much bigger.

On May 1, 1924, the Municipal Market of Atlanta opened its permanent home.

This area in the market was once a dark corner that blocked the skyline views. Today, it’s a place to stop, listen to jazz by Henry Caslin, take in the work of , and enjoy the energy of the market.

And Thursday through Saturday, meet us at the Night Market, when select merchants keep things going until 8 pm. Consider this your sign to make some new evening plans!
