Having a routine makes a big difference for our productivity.

When I can get the little daily chores out of the way first thing in the morning it helps my brain to be focused on the bigger tasks of work.

When I get time in the word with Jesus before my husband gets up, it helps me be the wife I want to be for him.

Taken care of the tiny things first thing in the morning, helps them to not pile up in the middle or end of the day.

Having a tidy home before I leave for work, helps me to relax when I come home after a hard day of physical labor - most everything’s already done!

Getting up at 4:30 AM is only difficult if I’m not disciplined about going to bed before 10PM!

What element of your routine helps you to juggle your day?

Why a .243 is our weapon of choice on pigs for slaughter:

1. It’s designed to take down medium-size game like deer, which can weigh between 200 and 500 pounds. A pig at the time of slaughter typically weighs between 300 and 400 pounds.

2. On livestock this size, and when the bullet has to pass through the skull, it will disintegrate within the first inch or two. The likelihood of a pass-through is slim to none.

3. When that bullet fragments, it destroys the brain upon impact. This gives the animal an instant death without any suffering.

You don’t have to have prior police or military experience or go to artillery school to learn about ballistics.

As a butcher and livestock owner we are responsible for taking care of our livestock and giving them the dignity and ease of a quick and painless death when the time is appropriate.

Educate yourself on the ballistics you’re using before executing.

Yes, each of the pigs were bled out within minutes of the kill shot.

All four pigs were processed and hung within 3 hours.

And the living pigs left behind didn’t care one bit about the ordeal. They simply kept on eating.

Sometimes this job feels like a sincere work of art.

We get some of the best cattle from a local rancher here in north Idaho and we love getting it into the hands of our local customers.

Call/text Samantha to reserve your beef for 2027.

Actual moments that happen when we’re alone in the cut cooler.

My husband compares my bridal beauty to a prime New York strip.

I don’t know how to feel about that 😂

Then I remember he’s a butcher. He knows quality when he sees it, so there’s quite the compliment tucked in there. 😉

Key to a happy marriage - don’t read into the small stuff, laugh often, and forgive quicker than you can get offended.

I do love this guy.

What does lady Butcheress do on her time off. She loves her horses better than a prime steak. 🥰

For anyone local to Kootenai County, Idaho or for those willing to travel, Packsaddle is selling this brand new DIY 40‘ x 84‘ Quonset hut.

We initially purchased it, preparing to move to 10 acres and build a Butcher Shop inside. The property we purchased does not support this kind of structure so we’re selling it to you for the deal we got it for!

Typically $75,000, we’re selling it for $60,000.

It will arrive at our facility on skids between June 26 and July 13. If you’re willing to pick up within 48 hours of its delivery, we will load it for you. We do not deliver.

Here’s what’s included:

Skid sizes - 3 each 2.5 ft x 10 ft | 1 each 2.5 ft x 18 ft | buckets of nuts and bolts

- Snow load: 80 PSF
- Wind load: 145 MPH
- 41 arches
- 18 gauge
- Two 14’x14’ framed openings on each end wall
- All arch panels are pre-drilled and pre-cut
- Manufacturer stamped drawings
- Building foundation manuals
- 40-year galvalume rust through perforation limited warranty
- 1 year warranty against defects in material and workmanship

Great for storage, an indoor riding arena, shop or whatever you want to make.

Get it now and you still have plenty of time to set it up (it can be built in less than a week with a few men).

If we have to store it the price goes up! Give Samantha a call/text to inquire: 509-496-1641

I’m not about to get political, so let’s focus on economics.

Just about every service you depend on runs on diesel.

Truckers are a huge part of what keeps this nation moving forward. The farmer doesn’t make money unless his product is shipped to the buyer.

A rancher doesn’t make money unless the cattle are shipped to the packer.

A plumber, an electrician, a butcher, doesn’t make money if they can’t drive to your house.

You don’t get your Amazon orders without diesel.

Small businesses in particular feel the hit. Most operate just within their means so spikes in fuel can hit harder than any blown radiator.

Businesses (small businesses in particular) don’t raise and lower their prices with hard times like the stock market to make a buck.

However, as long as diesel continues to go up you can expect small service related businesses to raise their prices with it.

We don’t jerk our customers around and play with prices, but we also don’t get discounts as the gas station.

My husband took over the kill day this week. Three cows for butcher, calm and easy.

Weapon of choice: R***r .270

Husband of choice: Brian Sauve 😍

Sorry ladies, he’s all mine!

Cutting up the small, grass-finished beef can be difficult. There’s little to no fat giving the meat structure, so cutting can lead to floppy steaks that don’t look very appealing.

Even if the meat itself is delicious, presentation matters!

An easy way to fix it: freeze the rib section overnight and cut the steaks in the morning.

A brief warm bath and a bone dust scraper will give you perfectly clean steaks that will look beautiful when unwrapped.
