HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!

We will be holding meetings again starting in January about creating a local Food Coop or Food Hub in Anchorage. If you would like to join us please let us know at least 3 dates and times that are good for you, and we will pick a time for the first meeting based on when the most people can attend. We will post the meetings notes to keep everyone up to date that can't attend.

Location, date and time of first meeting to be announced Friday January 9th. We will try to hold at least 2 meetings a month: one for welcoming, awareness raising, and training; and the other for the steering committee for people serious about helping making it a reality.

Thanks. And we hope this year brings you all what you need and as much of what you want that will enhance your life and bring you one step closer to your goals and dreams.

Hello All - Haven't been on FB for a while - Just trying to catch up. I received the booklet on starting an on-line food coop. Anyone available to get together next week? Like maybe the 17th or 18th?

Would anyone from this group support a screening of Farmageddon? The new film that highlights the pressure the govt. is putting on the small family farms? I can ask Hope if we can use their theater room - it holds 100 - and charge like $5 each to pay for the screening fees. We could combine it with an informational presentation on the on-line market format for the co-op.

Attended a workshop at the coop conference that provided information on an income generating activity (IGA) to will help communities build the capital they need to open a brick and mortar store. The activity is an on-line coop store. The software will be provided to us for FREE from the Oklahoma Food Coop. I'll have more information in the next week or so-go to www.oklahomafood.coop for more information-or message me

We're growing a grassroots network uniting Oklahoma folks interested in sustainably produced, locally grown food. We bring the farmer's market to your front door.

Went to the Spenard Farmer's Market and spoke with several Alaska producers about becoming part of the co-op. Received great response and interest. Won't have a date for the public forum until I can call CES on Monday.

06/25/2011

Had a great chat with Andrew Crow, UAA, and Robin Richardson, Global Food Alaska - shared some really exciting ideas for the co-op's future.
