A Grower’s Permit covers the agricultural products that you personally grow or produce and plan to sell at farmers markets or roadside stands. A grower's permit is FREE at your local Extension Office!
With a Grower’s Permit, you can sell things like:
✅ Fruits & Vegetables – Anything you grow (must be listed specifically.)
✅ Eggs – Must follow Egg Law (washed, graded, refrigerated, proper cartons)
✅ Raw Honey & Bee Products – Must be properly labeled
✅ Cut Flowers & Herbs
✅ Flowers, Trees, Shrubs, Seedlings - Must also have Nursery License
✅ Meat & Poultry – Only if you raised it; must meet processing and labeling rules
✅ Jams & Jellies – Only if made from what you grow (plus Cottage Food requirements)
✅ Other farm products like mushrooms, tallow products, or goat milk items (with specific rules)

We have evaluated the possibility for weather during the market tomorrow and have decided to keep it as scheduled. Current forecasts from the WSFA12 Weather & 33/40 Weather show only an average of 20% chance of rain during market hours, but we have considered that it is May and we are in Alabama.

We hope you will join us tomorrow morning for the first market day of the season! We are looking forward to a great kickoff with our vendors, community members, and visitors.

The first market of the season is this Saturday, and we are excited to welcome our vendors and community members to the Alexander City Farmer’s Market!

Please review these important guidelines before attending:

• Vendors selling produce they have grown must have a Growers Permit issued by the Tallapoosa County Extension Office.
• “Home bakers” are required to provide a copy of their Cottage Food/Baker Certificate to the Farmers Market Manager for MainStreet records.
• Tents and tables are available in limited quantities on a first come, first served basis. Vendors using these items will be responsible for setup, breakdown, and returning them to the MainStreet trailer after the market. We encourage you to bring your own tent/table to insure that you will have one.
• Vendors selling eggs must have both a Growers Permit from the Tallapoosa County Extension Office and an Egg Dealer Permit issued by the Alabama Department of Agriculture.
• If you have not completed a vendor application, paper copies will be available at the market.
• Vendor spaces are $10 per Saturday.
• While we never like canceling market days, weather or emergency conditions may require it. Any cancellations or updates will be posted on this page, and we encourage everyone to share those announcements.

The Alexander City Farmer’s Market is a certified market through the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and maintaining that certification requires us to enforce these guidelines.

We ask that you be set up by 7:00am. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and look forward to seeing each of you this Saturday for a great start to the market season!

We’re excited to announce that the Alexander City Farmers Market is back for the season! Join us starting May 23rd through July 25th every Saturday from 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

Come shop fresh produce, local goods, and support our amazing community vendors!

🧺 Interested in becoming a vendor?
Spaces are available for $10 per week. Limited tents and tables will be available on a first come first served basis, but vendors must setup the tents and tables themselves.
