10th St. Farm & Market

10th St. Farm & Market Local Food for Local People! We are a small extended season farm in Afton, mn growing produce using natural practices 12 months out of the year.

We are a small family farm, respecting the land and appreciating the food it provides. We believe a farm is a celebration of nature’s gifts. Our goal is to harness those gifts through a combination of low acreage-high production farming methods, organic practices and extended season tools. To extend the growing season and maximize the natural systems provided throughout the year, we use two movabl

e high tunnels, succession plantings and crop rotation. We offer an On-farm market open from April - Nov, a CSA (community supported agriculture) program, and sell wholesale to local co-ops and restaurants.

The unglamorous side of running a regenerative vegetable farm during a late, dry spring. A beautiful Saturday evening spent listening to a chorus of peepers and coyotes…while hoeing beds and seeding crops in near darkness before the first real rain in weeks.

We feel so lucky to get to work with our hands outside everyday, growing healthy food for our community. And every so often we have to pay for that privilege by burning some midnight oil.

Looking forward to a more rainy and restful Sunday evening!

“Papa! Mama! I see YOU!”

Thank you to River Market Co-op for making us produce section celebrities (at least in our kids’ eyes). And big thanks to all of our retail partners for supporting and spotlighting local growers and producers. We appreciate you!

A pretty epic day yesterday, as we moved all three of our moveable high tunnels with the help of a stellar crew. These moveable tunnels are a key part of our crop rotation, allowing us to rotate tomato and winter spinach plantings around without overtaxing the soil in one particular field.

Each spring we move the tunnels to a new field to warm the soil for our tomato plantings. We hope to get our tomatoes in the ground in a week or so, so they can start happily growing!

Big thanks to Joan, Evelyn, Kandyss, Clare, Racheal, Amelia, Tom, and Jamie for coming out to help with the move! Many hands make light work!

Taking a break from busy spring planting to reflect on the winter season that is coming to a close. The farm team gathered yesterday to celebrate achievements and brainstorm ways to make our next winter growing season even better!

Big thanks to Taylor Mendell at for sharing her reflection methodology for compiling these observations and turning them into actionable ideas.

And thanks to our amazing customers for their support through the winter months! It was a wonky weather winter, but a fun one on the farm!

Spring vibes on the farm!

We’re loving the gradual transition of winter spinach beds into spring greens, with an assist from our paperpot transplanter.

This nifty tool helps us get better germination, keep living roots in the soil, and minimize time between harvests. Also: it’s fun and cool!

All of our tunnels made it through the blizzard unscathed, thanks to the tireless work of Chris, our hero, who made sure snow didn’t pile up through the night. We don’t know where we would be without Chris, who is so strong and also so good at writing captions on Instagram.
