This may be the biggest long shot EVER and I probably set myself up for failure big time BUUUUT, I’m gonna try anyhow.
My husband’s great-grandfather raised registered (polled) Herefords in southwestern Pennsylvania from around 1940 until maybe 1970.
My husband and I, raise red angus with Herefords thrown in for good measure. Everybody loves a baldy.
Ok, now, the long shot…ideally I’d like to see if I can’t find a heifer/cow out of stock that came from his grandfathers herd. If that doesn’t happen, even some paperwork on his cattle or possibly photos would still mean a lot to him.
I’ll post details below and if you need more or think you could help, please message me.
Howard C. Wass
Addison, Pa
His farm is/was Maple Valley Farms but the old barn used to have Maple Valley Stock Farm on the side.
Herd prefix could possibly be: MV, MVF, MVSF.
All the Herefords were registered and polled stock.
I already called AHA and there records only go back to 1970.
I am aware how crazy this is but it would be an epic Father’s Day Gift and he’d really love it.
So, if you know my husband, keep it quiet. If I fail miserably on my quest, he’s none the wiser. If I succeed, he gets a really cool gift and some family history that has been lost.
