Sorry I have been quiet lately (I seem to say that a lot, don't I?). The kitchen remodel was put on the back burner (pun intended...) because we had a run of magnificent weather, so I went outside.

Mostly, I pulled weeds. Actually, I pulled pachysandra, which in my mind is the same thing. I hate that stuff. I assume that people plant it so they won't have to mow the lawn, which I respect. However...

They are ugly. In the words of a childhood taunt,

"YOU'RE UGLY!
YOU'RE UGLY!
YOUR MAMA SAYS YOUR UGLY!!!"

At this moment it is raining, and it will be for a while, so instead of ugly plants, I have a yard full of ugly wet plants.

This is not helpful, therefore it's back to the kitchen for me.

OH JOY...

This is the before photo. I'll post an "After" if it stops raining.

I never post in the morning, but I have to document this amazing thing...

This morning I walked from the bedroom to the kitchen to start the coffee, and I saw a miracle.

The floors were dry.

That may seem like nothing to you, but if you live with a huge and stupid dog (as I do) you will understand.

Murphy did not p**p, did not p*e, and did not chew on any bit of furniture or flooring last night.

To top it off (and this will be the part that will keep me from sending him back to the pound) he came up to me this morning and when I asked if he wanted to go do the big p**ps...

He ran straight to the door and I let him out!!!!!

The age of miracles is upon us...

I spent yesterday digging up my front lawn (well, it's more a patch of weird green growing things than an actual lawn) so I can plant the 150 flower bulbs that I ordered.

Whatever was I thinking?

Today, I am a zombie with only a few rows cleared. Not planted, just a few rows dug.

Maybe I should just buy a couple of those huge planters and a mountain of dirt. Or maybe I can just toss the bulbs on the ground and order a load of dirt thrown on them.

NAH. Too expensive.

I guess I better get a nice nap, and figure it out tomorrow.

You can see the problem...

I haven't been working on the kitchen because I have been too busy stressing about how to stick the Formica onto this little spot...

I don't know how to stick the picture in between the writing, so I'll have to figure that out some day. Today is not that day.

The cat on the left cuddles up to the coffee maker every morning, and sulks when I turn it off.

The dark lump on the right is highly offended when I make her move on. I'm not happy about animals where I clean my dishes, even if she has spent a half hour bathing herself.

Yuck...

Tomorrow I shall get that damn Formica stuck! Probably...

Maybe...

Sorry I've been goofing off lately. I've been messing around in the kitchen and trying to get my sh*t together and not throw my phone at the wall. It has been a frustrating time.

I'll try to get it together tomorrow. Meanwhile, do you have anything you'd like to ask me? Maybe something about the farm, or the critters? Or why I'm so d***y these days?

Also, I can't seem to get any good photos of the critters, which is a shame because they are being really sweet now that the weather is getting cold. They want to make sure that they get a good spot in the house instead of the barn...

I'm not sure why I can't post photos. I'll try to fix that tomorrow...

I am not dead. Just doing a few things, and trying to get my phone to work.

I'll be back later...

I'm way too tired to be clever tonight (as if I have ever been clever...), so I shall try to be clever tomorrow...

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I've been trying to get a new old door into my kitchen. This house was built before the Civil War, and added to several times. It has five external doors, one of which I haven't opened in years.

The previous door was huge and heavy, and I probably could have left it alone forever, but Himself was using an electric wheelchair for his last few years, and he seemed to crash into it nine times out of ten every day. The damn thing was made of steel, and he still tore it up...

Anyway, I found a nicer old door in the barn, and painted it. That was last week, and I believe I posted a photo of it after I gave it a paint job.

It is now the kitchen door. Okay, it's not actually functional, but I have it almost in place. I spent the better part of an hour trying to find a chisel so I could get the hinges onto the door (because it seemed to be easier to mess with the door than to find another set of hinges).

I never found one. However, I eventually located a tool that Himself bought for me ages ago at Harbor Freight. He used to buy me tools the way some men buy roses (he knew what I liked...).

IT WORKED!

Unfortunately, I am too tired to finish the job today. I'll show it to you tomorrow.

God willin' and the crick don't rise...

It has been a long and annoying day. I started my day binge watching YouTube videos on how to install a new door on an old house.

I don't think I found the right videos.

I started by hauling in the door that I painted last weekend. It is heavy, but that's not the hard part. The hard part was having to move around a heavy door without breaking the glass window. I did not break the window.

I also did not get the door installed.

So I am busy watching YouTube videos again.

I wanted to post a photo of my defeat, but I forgot to do that, too.

On another problem: one of the kittens has not come home this evening. Not that I am short on cats, but I worry. She will probably show up tomorrow with a feline hangover.

I'll let you know in the morning. By then I might have some decent photos.

Or not...

I'm not dead. Just goofing around a bit, and my phone is doing stupid things. I'll try to straighten it all out tomorrow, if I don't fling my phone out the window.
