Have you ever noticed that most of our cartons say “unwashed”? We pride ourselves on being able to collect clean eggs straight from the coop, but sometimes we can’t prevent dirty eggs. For example the chickens loved playing in the mud after the rain, and they bring the mud into the nest boxes. Although not necessary to wash them, personally dirty eggs give me the ick, so I scrub the dirty ones with warm water and my cute little egg brush.

Question: Do you know why it is best to NOT wash an egg until you’re ready to use it? Put your answer in the comments! ⬇️
