A little piece of the Jura, right here in Malmö.
Some things become part of who you are. Artisan Mont d’Or is one of them.
Every year since Julie first opened its doors in 2018, we’ve welcomed back this beautiful seasonal cheese from the Jura mountains of France. It’s part of who we are: cheese, w**e, good produce and the pleasure of gathering around a table.
But there’s a lovely story behind this particular cheese.
In the summer, when the mountain pastures are lush and the cows graze on rich, abundant grass, the milk is perfect for making Comté — the Jura’s famous hard cheese, traditionally aged for months.
As the seasons change and the pastures become less abundant, the milk changes too. Rather than making large wheels of Comté, cheesemakers traditionally turn to smaller-format cheeses, including Mont d’Or. Made for the colder months, it is designed to be enjoyed warm, with its soft, creamy centre and delicate notes of cream, mushrooms and spruce.
Wrapped in spruce bark and nestled in its little wooden box, Mont d’Or is a celebration of seasonality, tradition and making the very best of what nature provides.
At Julie, we’ve made it a tradition of our own. Every year since 2018, this beautiful cheese has found its way to our table, ready to be shared with good bread, a lovely glass of w**e and good company.
Come find us on Tegelgårdsgatan, in Kvarteret Druvan, in the heart of Gamla Väster.
