Pakistan is investing Rs1.666 billion to send 1,000 agricultural professionals to China for specialised training, opening the door to new skills, modern farming methods and international knowledge exchange.
The programme was approved by the federal government’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
China has advanced agricultural research, modern greenhouse systems, precision farming and water-saving technologies that could offer valuable learning opportunities for Pakistani professionals.
The training aims to strengthen their expertise through international exposure, although the specific courses and participating institutions have not yet been detailed in the available information.
For Pakistan, the opportunity is about more than sending professionals abroad. Bringing new knowledge home could help improve crop production, water efficiency and farming practices, while strengthening agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and China.
The long-term impact will depend on how effectively the skills are applied across Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
