Our Market Ortigas Market — Satisfying Community Hunger!

"The Ortigas Market was born out of the desire to empower our local community and help entrepreneurs to recover and rebuild after more than two years of the pandemic," shares Ed Dames (Chairman & CEO of DTC Promos, Inc.). Hence why we initiated this community-building project with Pasig City, Barangay San Antonio, and Ortigas Center Association Inc. (OCAI) to create an open market area where people can support all things local and where businesses can connect with even more customers in this new normal. Our vendors range from start-up Micro to Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as veteran entrepreneurs of farmer markets. "This alliance between the private sector and the local government has allowed us to provide a venue for our local producers to sell their projects to residents in the Ortigas Center and surrounding areas," adds Marissa Dames (President & COO of DTC Promos, Inc.). Being located at a CBD, our market promises its vendors an accessible place where customers can easily pour in to shop for the freshest of produce, meat selections and great value artisanal treasures plus fill up on international/Pinoy cuisine, learn something new, and have fun with live entertainment! Additionally, vendor partners can relax knowing they're in good hands with us when it comes to ensuring safety, proper promotion, and the lowest rental rates. Simply put, taking the traditional flea market concept — we opted to give the Ortigas Market a more contemporary makeover so that it suits the general needs of many in today’s time and become a go-to Saturday hangout where lasting memories can be created.

Healthy eating is not only about choosing nutritious food. How we eat also matters. Mindful eating means paying attention to the food in front of you, noticing its taste and texture, and becoming more aware of your hunger, fullness, and eating habits without judging yourself.

Simple habits can help you become more intentional with meals: slow down, reduce distractions, notice when you’re satisfied, and make nutritious foods easier to choose. A balanced plate can also include plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and healthy protein sources.

You don’t have to completely change the way you eat. Sometimes, it starts with simply putting the phone down and paying attention to your next bite.

Rethink the way you eat. Read the full article on the Our Market website.

Pickling, fermentation, canning, sugaring, and dehydration are some of the preservation methods that can help extend shelf life, reduce food waste, and turn fresh or seasonal ingredients into products that can be sold for longer.

For Filipino food businesses, these methods can open opportunities to create products such as atchara, jams, dried fruits, fermented vegetables, bottled sauces, and more.

But preservation is more than simply making food last longer. Proper processing, storage, packaging, and food safety practices are essential, especially when producing for sale.

Curious which preservation method could work for your product idea? Read the full article on the Our Market website: https://www.ourmarket.com.ph/business/5-easy-food-preservation-methods-for-philippine-food-businesses/

Coffee has become part of everyday life in the Philippines, whether it’s a 3-in-1 before work, brewed coffee during a study session, or an iced latte during a café catch-up.

The local coffee market continues to develop. In 2025, instant coffee remained a major part of the Philippine market, while fresh-ground coffee also recorded strong growth. Café and bar sales likewise grew, with expanding coffee culture helping drive the category.

Coffee also contains caffeine, which can increase alertness and reduce feelings of tiredness. For most adults, the FDA says up to 400 mg of caffeine per day is an amount not generally associated with negative effects, although individual sensitivity varies.

Research has also found that coffee consumption is associated with several potential health benefits, including lower risks of some chronic conditions. However, many of these findings come from observational research, so they do not prove that coffee itself prevents disease.

So whether you drink yours hot, iced, black, creamy, or sweet, coffee has clearly become more than just a caffeine fix for many Filipinos.

What did Filipinos eat before colonization?

Long before instant meals and processed snacks, Filipino communities built their diets around what was available nearby, including rice, root crops, fish, shellfish, fruits, vegetables, and wild game.

Archaeological research even gives us clues about how food choices varied across different regions.
